The DMHS Players is the award-winning drama department at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. We are devoted to expanding student involvement in theater, while promoting respect, growth, and teamwork in a supportive family of artists.
In addition to its two mainstage shows each year, the DMHS Players proudly present a variety of events, including Improv Nights, Student Showcases, One Act Festivals, and community service projects.
This year we are featuring Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory Nov 6-8th and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee April 2-4th. The Children’s Show production is The Recess Queen by Alexis O’Neill which tours in January/February.
Every year, the DMHS Players take on a project called The Children’s Show. We write and produce a short play for elementary school students. We travel to local schools and libraries presenting the show along with a workshop reinforcing the theme of the play. The children, schools, and libraries all absolutely adore the work, and we’re welcomed back with open arms every year! It’s a great experience for both high school and elementary school students alike.
In November 2012, The DMHS Players were selected out of the state of Arizona to be one of the two mainstage shows presented at The Arizona State Thespian Festival! There we presented Ruthless for a panel of judges to qualify for the National Thespian Festival, whose results we are eager to receive soon!
As a drama club we have brought home several awards from The Center Stage Awards, sponsored by the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Our awards include:

The DMHS Players were selected along with 32 other schools across the country to attend and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 2009! The DMHS Players were the only drama club in the state of Arizona selected to go. While there, we experienced theater from across the globe, performed our own show for an international audience, and took in the culture and history of London and Edinburgh.
We hope you will continue to help support our school and our community by attending our shows, donating to our causes, and staying active with The DMHS Players.
